‘George indefatigably carrying his little daguerreo-type box up everywhere, and taking
the first image of the Matterhorn, as also of the aiguilles of Chamouni, ever drawn by
the sun. A thing to be proud of still… ‘ uit ‘Praeterita’, Ruskin’s autobiografie dd. 1887.

James T. Kirk is a 12" tall, highly detailed, vinyl model kit from the 70s.
The 7 components + the box are presented in the catalogue as artworks. The title refers to the sculptor of these components. The miniature is taken from the world of dreams, deconstructed and presented as an abstract object, out of context. Sensitive to what is disappearing, I used outmoded analogue techniques for this production. Formal choices are made based on characteristics of the object itself, such as photographical techniques, ectachrome film, varitone background, lighting etc.

Appropriating objects and imagery from the western culture, placing them in front of the camera and using analogue techniques to obtain images that assert themselves as disparate signs of a world that can be harnessed into constellations of meaning or left free of all such describing bonds.

Published by the Artist.

The edition consists of 24 pages of which 11 images and 1 reproduction.
The eleven components of a miniature model kit (FDS automodelli) of the most legendary car in the world, Ferrari 250 GTO. The miniature object is taken from the world of fetishism and dreams. The model is deconstructed and components are represented as abstract objects, out of reality, out of context. Only the reproduction of the accompanying document on the back cover gives some explanation. Formal choices are made based on characteristics of the object itself, such as the transparency of the object, the color, the size, the serial order. Sensitive to what is disappearing, I used outmoded analogue techniques for this edition.

APARTMENT, WALL PLATES

A serie of photographs was made during a period of 14 days. The viewers standpoint was every day exactly the same as the day before, at exactly the same hour. At that time of the day, the light was neutral and the sky seemed a void with no depth. The building - a pier - appears dark with little details in the surroundings. The place looks deserted. As the serie progresses, the viewer is aware of the minimal changes of the light. As well of the repetitive sequence he is making. A monotonous production takes place. Nevertheless the tides, the reflections of the light and weather conditions turns the minimal purpose in a fascinating sequence. These plates were used as stills for the video installations.

Since the eighties many collaborations with artists and architects occured. Potographing their projects and installations can be an interesting phase in het imaginary of the artist or architect, resulting in various publications published by editors, galleries and museums.
